22/06/2012 An assemblyman has called for the Federal Government to buy over the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) from its concessionaire and discontinue the toll charge. Mok Chek Hou (BN Stulang) expressed confidence that the Federal Government is financially capable to buy over the project from developer Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB). "The EDL has brought a lot of benefit to the local people and also helped ease traffic along Jalan Tebrau. "The highway will help to spur commercial activities in Johor Bahru", he said. MRCB had proposed the toll rate for the 8.1km-long EDL to be set at RM7.65 but many parties have objected to the amount.
