Mok Chek Hou encouraged SMEs to compete globally

12/10/2010 Small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs are encouraged to find more ways to compete successfully in the fast changing global business environment, said Stulang assemblyman Mok Chek Hou. “SMEs are recognised as the main contributors to the national economy, which also acts as the backbone to the country’s economy. “By putting their business on the global market, SMEs can survive and grow stronger in the domestic market share thus exploring more business opportunities internationally,” he said, after launching the SME Financial Solutions seminar and roadshow here recently. Mok added that the SME sector is one of the key components of the government’s economic growth strategy in transforming Malaysia into a high income economy by 2020 under the New Economic Model. “The government recognises the importance of SMEs’ contribution to the economy and the government continued to undertake efforts to assist SMEs in optimising their business both in the domestic and global platforms. “I believe this financial seminar will provide entrepreneurs with ideas and platforms to further transform and expand their business to the global business arena,” he said.
