02/01/2011 揮別2010，迎來2011年的“跨年倒數在老街”活動，昨晚在新山陳旭年街熱烈引爆，雖然主辦單位準備的節目都是富有中華色彩，但還是吸引了各族人士到來一同歡慶，體現了一個馬來西亞的精神。活動是由陳旭年文化節委員會、新山海南會館、優景鎮玉封至富財帛星君廟聯辦，於昨晚7時30分開始，直到歡騰的倒數儀式後，大家才帶著愉快的心情回家。主辦單位安排了多姿多彩的節目，如民族舞蹈、武術表演、勁歌熱舞、兒童舞蹈團、合唱團、以及舞龍迎新除舊歲的精彩節目，就連友族同胞也看得津津有味。莫澤浩：打造更成功老街
士都蘭區州議員兼陳旭年文化街委員會主席莫澤浩表示，這是老街首次舉辦跨年倒數活動，獲得各界人士的大力支持，打造更成功的老街。他說，柔州政府計劃在老街加蓋雨蓋和再次掀開及清理紗玉河等，都是新山市區轉型計劃的一部份，然而希望政府在發展時也不忘保存文化遺產，才能夠吸引到外國遊客的到來。他透露，有一家私人公司已經獲得柔州旅遊局和新山市政府的支持，在老街一帶推出“三輪車老城區走透透”，以便能夠吸引更多的遊客到來。他在致詞後向媒體表示，三輪車將會在1月20日舉行推介禮，由柔佛州州務大臣拿督阿都干尼主持推介儀式。他透露，共有20至30輛三輪車將會川行新山市區，至於收費方面就有待負責公司宣佈。
A GHAZAL performance, Chinese and Indian classical dances, Malay traditional dance and the 1Malaysia dance were the highlights at the recent JB Bazz Cultural and Heritage Carnival. The 1Malaysia dance was performed by dancers clad in traditional costumes of vibrant colours. They danced to the same tune to symbolise racial unity. Five stages were set up in Jalan Ungku Puan, Jalan Meldrum, Laman Tun Sri Lanang, Jalan Segget and Jalan Tan Hiok Nee for the event. It started at 7pm. Held for the first time, it was organised by the Johor Baru City Council, Iskandar Regional Development Authority and Chinese-based associations in Johor Baru. Stulang state assemblyman Mok Chek Hou said the event marked the start of the Johor Baru Transformation One Month One Event initiative. He said the two-day carnival was a platform to promote the state capital as a city of arts and culture. Mok said the carnival's success showed that heritage and development could go hand-in-hand and complement each other.
